US Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award

WHEELING, WV - U.S. Rep. Alan B. Mollohan D-W.Va. presented the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Achievement Certificate (EAC) to Backbone Security of Fairmont, WV during the 20th Anniversary of Teaming to Win Conference on Thursday, October 15.

Congressman Mollohan presented the award to Vice President Jim Wingate and Backbone Security staff Chad Davis and Robert Lipscomb.

The Export Achievement Certificate program recognizes small- and medium-sized U.S. businesses that exhibit a strong commitment to exporting and have realized the benefits through sales and growth. Backbone Security has made that commitment and has been exporting for several years. As a result, they have created 3 new jobs and hired two interns from Fairmont State University.

A small ceremony was held during the Teaming To Win Conference at the I-79 Technology Park Center in Fairmont WV. Participants included CSWV Director Leslie Drake, President of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce Katherine Wagner, President of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce Tina Shaw, Judy McCauley with the U.S. Small Business Administration, and other local economic and governmental leaders.

Tina Shaw, President of the Marion County Chamber for Commerce mentioned “I’m very proud of our business community, and an achievement such as this is a real feather in their cap.”

Vice President for Backbone Security, Jim Wingate, received the EAC Award, and mentioned “Exporting is an essential element of our product marketing strategy. Our experience, thus far, has revealed significant international market potential for our products as many countries are just now beginning to establish computer forensics labs. We anticipate continued success with international sales that will increase revenue and allow us to expand our research and development activities.”

“This Award that Backbone Security has received should encourage other Small Businesses in West Virginia to consider exporting. The U.S. Commercial Service in West Virginia can help companies to understand the process and to identify international markets for their products and services,” said Diego Gattesco, Senior International Trade Specialist with the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Wheeling.
